More Details About AtlasPool.io

Thanks for exploring AtlasPool.io. AtlasPool.io is deployed worldwide to be the most performant and reliable solo mining solution available today. Solo miners need a pool that is always operational and physically close to their own geographic location. AtlasPool.io is architected to address the technical needs of solo miners around the world.

solo.atlaspool.io: One hostname, multiple locations

AtlasPool.io is announced out of 100+ Points of Presence (POP) around the world. When your miner connects to solo.atlaspool.io, it automatically is routed to the closest POP. Once connected to an edge POP, your miner is routed to the closest AtlasPool.io endpoint. Currently, there are seven deployed endpoints worldwide:

🚀 Quick Start - Connect Your Miner
  • North America: Ashburn, VA (US) and Portland, OR (US)
  • South America: São Paulo (BR)
  • Europe: Frankfurt (DE)
  • Asia: Hong Kong (HK) and Mumbai (IN)
  • Australia: Sydney (AU)
  • Coming soon: More endpoints based on your feedback and miner demand!

How does my miner automatically connect to the closest location?

BGP Anycast does all the work for you. Simply configure your miner to use solo.atlaspool.io, and you'll enjoy the benefits of low latency and fast access without having to worry about selecting the closest geographic target.

What is latency, and why does it matter?

Latency (measured in milliseconds) is the time it takes your miner to communicate with the mining pool. Lower latency is a strong contributing factor to reducing rejected shares. While other factors like network stability and miner configuration also play a role, minimizing latency helps your miner submit shares faster and stay synchronized with the pool.

Why rejected shares matter: Rejected shares are wasted work. Your miner spent electricity and time calculating a share that won't count toward finding a block. The table below shows the cumulative impact of different rejection rates:

Rejected Share Rate Lost Work/Day Lost Work/Month Lost Work/Year
0% ✓ 0 minutes 0 hours 0 days
0.1% 2.4 minutes 1.2 hours 8.8 hours
0.25% 6 minutes 3 hours 22 hours
0.5% 7.2 minutes 3.6 hours 1.8 days
1.0% ⚠️ 14.4 minutes 7.2 hours 3.7 days

Your goal: Keep rejected shares under 0.5%, ideally as close to 0% as possible. Rejection rates above 1% indicate a serious problem with your pool connection or network. AtlasPool's global infrastructure helps minimize latency-related rejections.

Can I test latency to AtlasPool.io?

Yes! You can test from your own location using our open-source stratum-speed-test tool. This Python script measures actual stratum connection performance, not just ping times.

For a quick test, run ping solo.atlaspool.io from your network and compare with other pools. Lower latency (in milliseconds) is better. Most miners also show connection time in their configuration interface.

🏆 The AtlasPool Rejected Shares Challenge

Don't just take our word for it - test it yourself! Here's how:

  1. Baseline: Note your current pool's rejected share rate over 24 hours
  2. Switch: Point your miners to solo.atlaspool.io for 24-48 hours
  3. Compare: Check if your rejected share rate decreased

Most miners see lower rejection rates with AtlasPool due to our global infrastructure and low-latency routing. Your results will vary based on your location and network conditions.

Reliability through multiple deployments

AtlasPool.io achieves the highest level of reliability through multiple servers worldwide. If one or more servers ever have a problem, they are automatically withdrawn from the pool. Your miner will automatically reconnect to the closest healthy location.

Reliability through ckpool's open-source stratum server

AtlasPool.io uses the reliable ckpool open-source stratum server to support all miner connectivity. AtlasPool.io operates its own instances of ckpool deployed around the world in an anycast configuration for maximum performance and uptime.

Well-connected bitcoin nodes

The AtlasPool.io bitcoin nodes are very well connected to the bitcoin Mainnet. Nodes receive network updates quickly, including notifications of newly found blocks.

What about running your own local node for your miners?

This is a great option too! Operating your own node for your miners gives you full control and sovereignty of your bitcoin operation. If you have the resources and technical interest in building and operating your own node, then try it out! However, many solo miners seek a public mining pool that takes away the burden and cost of operating their own node. AtlasPool.io is built as an option for solo miners who seek a performant, reliable, and no upfront or ongoing cost to operate.

What does it cost to use AtlasPool.io?

There is no upfront cost to use AtlasPool.io. If a solo miner ever finds a block, then 98.5% of the block proceeds will go to the miner. The remaining 1.5% of the found block is kept as a fee to help pay the development and operation of AtlasPool.io. The global footprint of AtlasPool.io incurs real costs that hopefully will be covered (some day in the future!) by the low 1.5% fee. We aim to demonstrate the highest level of performance and reliability to justify the small fee for any found blocks.
